Located in the heart of Savin Hill this outdoor space was full of potential. The existing layout split the large area up into a long narrow patio, made even smaller because of overgrown shrubs, and a small area of lawn with a linear planting bed that was stepped up from the patio. After clearing out the overgrown plants and dated paving system, we restructured the space, enlarging the patio and eliminating the lawn. The new patio space is now large enough for three distinct seating areas making the area much more usable for the owners. We maintained the specimen Japanese Stewartia and mature Climbing Hydrangea to anchor the planting, adding in low maintenance flowering plants to create a simple and colorful garden.
